Discover Pupuseria Cinco Estrellas

If you're looking for a vibrant, authentic taste of Latin American cuisine in Gresham, Oregon, Pupuseria Cinco Estrellas is a must-visit. Nestled at 64 NE Division St, this charming diner serves up one of the best Latin-inspired dishes in the area, specializing in Salvadoran cuisine, especially pupusas. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it’s a great spot to indulge in a hearty meal that feels like home.

As soon as you walk into Pupuseria Cinco Estrellas, you’re greeted by the comforting aromas of freshly prepared food. The small but cozy diner has a friendly, welcoming vibe that immediately makes you feel like part of the family. The menu is straightforward yet packed with flavor, offering a range of traditional Salvadoran dishes. Of course, the standout item here is the pupusa, a warm, thick corn tortilla stuffed with a variety of delicious fillings like cheese, pork, and beans. If you've never had one before, it's a must-try. Each pupusa is perfectly grilled on the outside, crispy and golden, while the inside is a satisfying mix of melty cheese or savory meat.

What makes Pupuseria Cinco Estrellas truly stand out is its dedication to authenticity. The owners, who are from El Salvador, bring their family recipes to life every day. The pupusas are made from scratch, and the ingredients are carefully selected to ensure the highest quality. Many customers come for the classic cheese pupusas, but there are other tempting fillings to try, such as loroco (a Salvadoran herb), chicken, and beans. Pair your pupusas with a side of tangy curtido (a pickled cabbage slaw) and salsa roja, both of which complement the richness of the pupusas perfectly.

Another highlight of the menu is the variety of refreshing drinks on offer. One of the most popular is the horchata, a sweet, creamy rice drink that adds a delightful contrast to the savory dishes. If you're a fan of something with a bit more zest, the frescos (fruit-based beverages) are a refreshing choice. From tamarindo to papaya, there’s a flavor for everyone.

What sets Pupuseria Cinco Estrellas apart from other diners is not just the quality of food but the consistency and the warmth of the service. The staff is attentive and friendly, ensuring that every guest feels taken care of. Whether you’re new to Salvadoran food or a longtime fan, you’ll leave satisfied and eager to return. The restaurant's family-oriented atmosphere adds a personal touch that can make any meal feel special.

For those who are curious about the wider menu, there's also a selection of meat stews like sopa de res (beef soup) and pescado frito (fried fish), both popular in Salvadoran cuisine. These hearty options are perfect if you're in the mood for something more filling, especially on a chilly day. Each dish is served with a side of rice and beans, rounding out a complete and satisfying meal.

Reviews of Pupuseria Cinco Estrellas consistently highlight the quality of the food and the friendly service. Many visitors rave about the freshness of the ingredients and the authentic flavors, noting how rare it is to find such delicious Salvadoran dishes outside of El Salvador itself. Whether you're a fan of Latin cuisine or just in the mood to try something new, this spot offers a genuine taste of Central America that you won’t want to miss.

If you're in the area and craving authentic Salvadoran comfort food, make sure to stop by Pupuseria Cinco Estrellas at 64 NE Division St. The combination of flavorful food, welcoming service, and the warm, family-friendly atmosphere ensures that this diner is a hidden gem in Gresham. It’s the kind of place where you feel like part of the community after just one visit, and it’s easy to see why locals keep coming back for more.

  • Honestly I've been going here a lot, and the food is so amazing, the pupusas 10/10 and the horchata too. The inside looks really nice, it seems like the restaurant is new! And their service was really good too, they bring ur food to ur table which is amazing!! Overall, this restaurant is a very underrated Hispanic place tbh, really recommend it!

  • I was happily surprised to see this new restaurant. The food is pretty good and the place is cozy. The customer service was good too. I got the yucca and chicharron, a tamal de elote and an horchata to drink. Will come back to try out more menu items .

  • I’ve had pupusas from every city I travel across the country and this place is up there with the best! Every time I visit Portland I come here to eat. They stuff them good and the they don’t leave the tortilla too thick. Delicious pupusas!

  • This restaurant originated from a food cart. They lady's who own it (mother and dsughter) have worked super hard to build a great business and have expanded to this new and very nice brick and mortar. I am pleased to say that the quality of the food and customer service is still the same and rate 5 stars in all categories. I always get the pupusa de pollo and revulta. They are freshly made and cooked to order. Arrive at your table fresh and hot with 2 types of salsa and pickled cabbage. I love their fruit drinks. I highly recommend eating here. 5 stars. The best pupusa in town.

  • This is my go to when I dont feel like making them myself. Curtido is not to my liking but the pupusas are always fresh and delicious.
